GSUSLIVETHURROCK08
starts this week!
On Saturday 6 September a 40ft artic lorry trailer containing a mobile classroom rolls into William Edwards School at the start of a 7-weeklong tour of Thurrock’s secondary schools.
The classroom contains 16 computers each showing an interactive presentation on the themes of Rejection, Fear and Forgiveness, and Religious Education or Citizenship lessons for up to 32 students can take place on board.
GSUSLIVE is making its third visit to Thurrock this Autumn Term, previously coming to the borough in 2002 and 2005. The whole project will last seven weeks - and comes absolutely free! This is a unique ‘vehicle’ to reach seven entire schools of 11 to 16 year olds with the message of Jesus Christ, perhaps some 6000 young people.
A team of presenters and a technical crew have been drawn together from the borough’s Christian Faith Community – they will be receiving their training this Saturday. The seven secondary schools taking up the opportunity to have GSUSLIVE are:
Wk 1: William Edwards Sept 8-12 Wk 2: St Clere's Sept 15-19 Wk 3: Chafford Hundred Campus Sept 22-26 Wk 4: Gable Hall Sept 29- Oct 3 Wk 5: The Grays School Media Arts College Oct 6-10 Wk 6: Hassenbrook Oct 13-17 Wk 7: TBC Oct 20-24
William Edwards are having GSUSLIVE for the first time; Gable Hall have both had it once before; and the others have had it on both previous occasions. The seventh week is currently vacant after one school had to pull out, but this week has now been offered to Belhus Chase (formerly Aveley).
Each school has a prayer facilitator from a church local to that school. They will be overseeing a pattern of daily prayer for their designated week. These are:
Wk 1. Howard Jones (Socketts Heath Baptist Church) Wk 2. Graham Claydon-Knights (Linford Methodist Church) Wk 3. Maria Levy (Chafford Hundred Community Church) Wk 4. Sally Harman (Thurrock Christian Fellowship + Stanford & Corringham Boiler Room) Wk 5. Tim Harrold (The Old Tennis Court Community) Wk 6. Rosemary Pritchard (Stanford-le-Hope Methodist Church) Wk 7. TBC
The core team facilitating the GSUSLIVE THURROCK08 project is Steve Morley, a Counties’ Evangelist; local rector, Andy Higgs; and Tim Harrold of Transformation Thurrock.
