Redeeming Our Community of Thurrock – Debra Green at TCF
 Debra Green will be speaking about Redeeming Our Communities at Thurrock Christian Fellowship’s All Saints Centre in Grays on 21 March.
Debra facilitates a prophetic prayer ministry based in Manchester called City Links. The original vision for this came from an awareness that there were a number of effective but uncoordinated prayer ‘towers’ around the city, but no ‘walls of prayer’ to link them. In building walls of connected and coordinated prayer, Debra and City Links have seen some amazing answers to their intercessions and Jesus has become recognised as a major agent for change and transformation in the Manchester area.
One aspect where the communities in Manchester have experienced the redeeming power of Christ through united prayer has been gun crime. This has been reduced by an incredible amount – because of united prayer – and Manchester no longer bears the unwanted reputation for being ‘Gunchester’. Imagine what Thurrock would look like if its communities were redeemed by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead? No more ‘the place where filthy water collects’, but ‘the place where fresh water flows’…
Debra’s visit to the borough in 2008 coincided with the birth of the Transformation Thurrock vision. What had been written down was entirely confirmed by everything Debra said at that gathering! This was the catalyst for the Transformation Thurrock website to get under way and for the breakfast event at Thurrock hotel last July.
She has always been very encouraging of the transformative work the website represents and the prayer meetings which are an attempt to help build those prayer walls between the borough’s exiting intercessory towers – and one thing we don’t want in Thurrock are ‘faulty towers’!
Unity is the key. As someone said, “If the people of God listen to God as one, they will hear God’s voice. If the people of God speak as one, the voice of God will be heard in the land”.
