Transformation Thurrock Prayer in Chadwell St Mary
This month's Transformation Thurrock Prayer gathering at 8.30am on Saturday 28 March will be at Riverview Methodist Church in Chadwell St Mary. This little church is closing in the near future after 50 years of service in the community. We will be continuing along the lines of the State of the Nation and the State of the Borough. There is the G20 summit starting on 2 April in London. 20 leaders of 20 nations will be gathering to discuss the world economic crisis, and some would say that whatever solutions they come up with will inevitably make things worse, since they only have the one model of capitalism to work from. Meanwhile, anti-capitalist demonstrators will be doing their best to make their point known, that the system is collapsing because it is the wrong system. Maybe many of these protesters will in time come to Christ as the alternative - God's economy - comes into its own. However, as we know from Revelation, the enemy has his own plans, and many will be sadly decieved. The Bible says, 'greed is an idol' - greed is the outworking of the worship of self and self-interest. This needs our prayers! We want to see the UK transformed and the enemy's plans thwarted through Christ's intervention! There are local issues - a number of council posts are up for grabs: wouldn't it be great of they were filled by Christians? Debra Green of City Links and Redeeming Our Communities said at her seminar on Saturday evening at Thurrock Christian Fellowship in Grays, that we must pray people into local office and work with the local authorities. (That is why at the Thurrock Day of Prayer, Hassenbrook, on Saturday 24 October, we're inviting the local MPs, councellors and emergency service chiefs along.) This needs our prayers! We want to see Thurrock transformed and the enemy's plans thwarted through Christ's intervention! Colin Baker of Grays Baptist Church has told us that Grays Station is the only station on the c2c line to have bouncers. The other night as he and his daughter waited for Alison they saw a huge number of police and three arrests at the station. The vast majority of violence is actually perpetrated by men between the ages of 35 and 45 - not young people! This needs our prayers! We want to see Thurrock transformed and the enemy's plans thwarted through Christ's intervention! Bar'N'Bus continues to do well, but since the closing down of the Chafford Hundred bus, a similar pattern of trouble being stirred, unhelpful parental intervention and neighbours' complaints is emerging in Corringham. This needs our prayers! We want to see Thurrock transformed and the enemy's plans thwarted through Christ's intervention! We also have a new Bar'N'Bus team starting up at Grays Riverside on the first Tuesday of May. We will also be praying for Chadwell St Mary, a community that has its fair share of problems, and we hope local Christians will attend the gathering. This is open to all who want to see Thurrock transformed and the enemy's plans thwarted through Christ's intervention! And that means us!
