Prayer

From Thurrock and Gravesend to the Heart of the Nation: Prayer on the Princess Pocahontas

pocahontas 1The Thames Gateway Prayernet have been able to hire the well known pleasure boat, the Princess Pocahontas, for a day of prayer on Saturday 19 September.

The cost for the day is just £10. - less than half the normal price!

The boat leaves Gravesend at 10.30am, then picking up from the Tilbury Ferry landing stage, and then proceeding up the Thames as far as Westminster Bridge. The Pocahontas will then return in a 4 to 5 hour round trip.

There will be a number of on-board worship and prayer activities and also talks (programme still being devised) in each of the three seating areas and on the sun deck. All who come will be provided with a prayer map outlining things to pray about on each side of the river. Themes will cover Parliament, the City, the river's geography and history and so on.

19 September is also the Jewish New Year, and so some aspects of the prayer will concern this significant event. If you own a shofar, please bring it along - and blow loudly!

To book a place on the Pocahontas please contact Ros Pople on 01634 221204 or Edward Wright on 01634 220220 and emawright@talk21.com. You can also go to PayPal and book using boat@medwaylocal.com.

Anyone wishing to come should bring their own sandwiches - tea and coffee will be available.

The Thames Gateway Prayernet are also holding prayer at each end of the QE2 Bridge at 10.30am on Saturday 5 September. The north bank intercessors are meeting at old St Clement's Church (by Proctor & Gamble in Hedley Avenue, West Thurrock) at 9.30am and then walking to the bridge. This is the fourth Thames Gateway Prayer Day of 2009.
