Princess Pocahontas Prayer Preparations Step Up
Just over 130 people have so far booked to come on the Thames Gateway Prayernet's voyage of prayer up the River Thames on Saturday 19 September.
Folk will be coming from Thurrock, Havering, Southend, Dartford, Gravesend, Medway and even Hastings. They will be participating in a packed but flexible programme relating to people and places connected to the world's most influential river.
This will include worship, guest speakers (with 'local' knowledge), and 'prayer maps' of the river. We'll be praying over historical and significant landmarks; for maritime connections; for industrial and business centres; and for the nation's governance. We will be sailing as far as Westminster Bridge before turning round and returning to Gravesend - the whole trip should take around 4 to 5 hours (so bring yer sarnies!).
There will be opportunities for the prophetic to be released. The Pocahontas has a number of indoor and outdoor spaces on two decks which will also be used in a variety of ways.
BOOK NOW TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT! Advanced booking is required for this trip as we have a limited number of spaces. To do this, please phone the prayer voyage's administrator Ros Pople on 01 634 221 204.
The cost is an incredible £10 - less than half the price of a normal excursion! God's favour is on this madcap venture!
IMPORTANT: Owing to unforeseen Health & Safety restrictions, people going on the Pocahontas trip are now required to take the Tilbury Ferry over to the Gravesend landing stage in order to go on the boat.
Tilbury Ferry times are 9.45am and 10.15am. We will endeavour to be at the Tilbury jetty to ensure people are okay with this. The Ferry will be free to everyone going on the Pocahontas - but it maybe a good idea if people can bring copies of the flyer to prove they're going on the Pocahontas. We plan to leave Gravesend at about 10.30am, although this is not strict.
This change has come about because the boat's helmsman was unaware of H&S stipulations imposed on the owner of the Pocahontas after someone fell into the river on the Tilbury side whilst trying to board her!
Liquid refreshments will be available, but don't forget to bring a packed lunch.
