Thames Gateway Prayernet comes into Coldharbour
 Facilitated by the Thames Gateway Prayernet, the fifth Thames Gateway Prayer Day of 2009 takes place this coming Saturday (7 November). Intercessors from Kent and Essex will be taking part in a joint 'prayer action' by holding two simultaneous prayer gatherings on the north and south banks of the river.
On the Essex side, people will be meeting at Coldharbour Point in Rainham at 3pm (left), while the Kentish will be making their way to the end of Erith Pier almost directly opposite (below, right). Two-way mobile contact will be established; brightly coloured flags will be waved; and shofars will be blown. Joint scriptural and prophetic declarations will be made, and each group will follow the same prayer guide.
Coldharbour Point has a red metal lighthouse and is close to the remains of a number of concrete barges, relics of World War II (see below left). It's on the edge of the Rainham Marshes and also a lorry park - it can be pretty bleak on a dull grey day, as these pictures show (taken on a reconnaissance mission in October).
 This event comes after four previous such gatherings throughout the year: on 7 February at the Tilbury Seafarers' Centre in the Docks and St George's Church in Gravesend; on 4 April at Coal House and Cliffe Forts; on 6 June at the 'Crowstone' on Westcliff beach and the 'London Stone' off Hoo Peninsula; and on 5 September at either end of the QE2 Bridge. And of course, the big prophetic intercession extravaganza from Gravesend/Tilbury to Westminster and back aboard the Princess Pocahontas on 19 September.
 More is on the way for 2010, and on 27 November the TGP 'core team' will be meeting at The Old Tennis Court in Grays to discuss a whole range of exciting possibilities and creative ideas and see where the Holy Spirit leads us. The team are also considering setting up a website which will document for both sides of the river all the various prayer actins taking place up and down the Thames. Of course, all this complements the work of Global Day of Prayer London as well, since the Thames Gateway region holds such a spiritually strategic and significantly symbolic position with regards to the capital.  To get to Coldharbour Point:
- Follow the A13 to the Ferry Lane turn off
- Take the Ferry Lane South turning (first exit)
- Follow this until you reach Coldharbour Road on your left
- Follow this past various factories and the Rainham Marshes until you see a barrier ahead of you: just before this, on your right, is the entrance to a car park
- Follow the track until your reach the car park down by the river
- Coldharbour Point is 20 minutes' walk from here
