Soup Week at 217 helps Indian Orphanage

Starting on 30 November, the Stanford & Corringham Boiler Room Community is hosting another Soup Week in the first week of December. This is being held at the community's house, 217 Southend Road, Stanford Le Hope, Essex, SS17 7AQ.
217's Emma Biddle and Sally Harman have sent to Transformation Thurrock the following information:
For those of you that have never attended a soup week before here is a quick summary of what one involves:
- The idea is that everyone is encouraged to eat simply throughout the whole week and come together at 217 everyday to eat delicious home made soup.
- Then the money that you would have spent on food that week in your weekly shop is given away to those who do not have the option to choose simplicity.
- In the past we have had some amazing soups ranging from home grown carrot soup to spicy thai butternut squash soup..... but one thing that all the soups have in common is that they are delicious!!
This time around we would like the money to be collected for the children at the EHSO Children's Home in Chennai, southern India, which homes 130 children. (EHSO is the Ebenezer Homes & Social Outreach charity which is based at The Old Tennis Court in Grays.) EHSO are in need of some money to pay for a Christmas lunch and new outfits for the children. Last year they were not able to celebrate Christmas at the home, as they did not have enough money. The estimated cost for this is £1,000, so please remember to give generously.
In previous soup weeks we have had soup at lunchtimes as well as in the evenings. This time around we would like to go for evenings and two lunchtimes.
The dates for the soup week are: Monday 30 November - Friday 4 December.
The evening servings are: 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The lunchtime servings are: 12:00 midday to 1:00pm (Tuesday & Wednesday only) Everybody is welcome to get involved in this, so please tell all your friends & family and bring them along to 217 (above right) too!!
You are welcome to as many or as few meals as you wish, but we would ask that you give us a bit of notice so we can ensure that we cater for the right number of people.
So.... if you would like to come and enjoy soup and fellowship please e-mail either Emma Biddle or Sally Harman on the e-mails below:
