Prayer

Unity1This month's Transformation Thurrock Prayer will be held at Thurrock Christian Fellowship's Grays Congregation building, the All Saints Centre, in John Street, Grays, on Saturday 28 November, starting at 8.30am.

This is not just for those in church leadership but also for intercessors with a heart to see Thurrock transformed.

What typifies Transformation Thurrock Prayer is the unity across the denominational divides and the equality of the priesthood of all believers.

At the Thurrock Day of Prayer it was mentioned that often a church will host the TTP, and some of its members come, but then not support other TTPs. We'd like to break this pattern if possible, and encourage folk to make the effort - not for the sake of Transformation Thurrock, but for the sake of praying transformation into Thurrock. TTP is a prophetic sign to the borough of the Coming Kingdom and the Coming King - Jesus.

ThurrockarmsRemember the Gatekeepers of the Gateway? Transformation Thurrock Prayer has kind of taken over from Gatekeepers as being the main monthly cross-denominational intercessional time for our borough. Our mandate to be gatekeepers and watchmen at the gateways of the borough and along the river has not changed.

In the Thurrock coat of arms (right), there is plenty of reference to our maritime connections - the ships, the albatross, the river, the oil, the quay, the wheel and the screw. But most prominent is the Celtic Cross, referring to St Cedd's mission to what was then called Great Tilbury in the 650s. Jesus used Cedd to plant the truth faith into this little corner of Essex, this 'place where filthy water collects', never dreaming of the huge, Ninevah-like metropolis it would once come to guard.

May those long-dormant seeds that Cedd planted be freshly watered by the Holy Spirit and let's pray for the blessing of the land, the redemption of the community, the healing of the nation, the awakening of the church, and the salvation of many. From the Thames to the peoples of the world!

In September 2007 there was a conference in Liverpool called Gateways & Coastlands, at which a national vision was released to see all the gateways of major cities and all the coastal ports watched over by watchmen. Thurrock is one of those places that is both of these things: we are in the gateway to London, and we are on the world's most important river. That's why we need to pray - together!

Please come! Bring others!
