Heal Our Land - for Thurrock?

Last Thursday night (14 January), Tim Harrold went to Emmanuel Church in Marsham Street, Westminster, to attend a presentation of Heal Our Land, a mutlimedia event designed to awaken the church at this time of crisis in the nation.
Heal Our Land is an interactive prayer and mobilisation event by Jimmy and Carol Owens adapted for the challenges of today’s British church. Using narrators and a choir, along with accompanying images, scriptures, facts and prayer, the event is designed to bring the church to a place of positive response.
The Owen’s musicals Come Together and If My People played a significant role in past renewal movements.
They believe that again, this new production, adapted by major British-based songwriters and artists from many styles and ethnic backgrounds, can be instrumental toward creating an atmosphere of repentance, a culture of prayer and a fresh passion for Jesus and the lost.
The idea is to have a week of prayer, with Heal Our Land on the weekend, followed by a week of evangelistic activity.
Tim's excited by the thought of the first week - and Rob's excited by the second week! The possibilities are eternal!
We're asking, is anyone up for this? Is Heal Our Land something Thurrock wants/needs? It would demand:
- a cross-denominational facilitation team
- maybe a 24-7 week of prayer (across the churches)
- a bunch of techies
- people to make up a choir
- a big venue for the actual event
- a whole lot of outreach creativity and volunteers
Of course, what already exists can be used.
You maybe thinking, 'Oh, not another thing', or 'We're already doing this stuff'. Well, we appreciate that. But this about making time and creating another opportunity to see Thurrock transformed by a motivated, envisioned united church passionate about being church and bringing the message of Jesus Christ to the lost of out community.
