Thames Gateway Prayernet start their 2010 campaign
Throughout 2009, the Thames Gateway Prayernet (TGP) undertook a number of 'prayer actions' at specific spots along the river.
The TGP are continuing this process in 2010 - kicking off by gathering at the Woolwich Ferry and foot tunnel on Saturday 30 January.
Folk from the north of the river and the south will join together on the south side at 10.30am, and then take the ferry and walk the foot tunnel. It's hoped that contacts in the areas both sides of the river will bring other contacts along.
One of our colleagues at Transform Newham, Matthew Porter (right), is particularly excited by the prospect of having the TGP come 'up stream', in view of the coming Olympics at Stratford. He has conducted much research into the spiritual history of the area. The River Thames, and its tributary The Lea, have historical and spiritual significances that leave deep scars on today's communities. Two weeks ago, on a freezing cold snowy day, some of the TGP met with Matthew and other intercessors from Newham to pray healing into the land (left).
Other TGP actions taking place this year are:
- Greenwich foot tunnel
- Tower Bridge and the Tower of London
- St Peter's Chapel, Bradwell-on-Sea (TBC)
- Prayer Voyage on the Princess Pocahontas
- Prayer Tour around the London 2012 Olympic site
The TGP is also in the process of developing its own website, connecting many intercessors along the river, from Shoebury to Stratford and Sheppey to Greenwich.
You'll read all about these things as they come up on the Transformation Thurrock website as well!
>>> If you plan on coming to Woolwich, we have to leave Thurrock at around 9.30am to ensure we get to the ferry, park up, and get to the other side to meet with the folk from south of the river. Please contact Tim Harrold on tim@transformationthurrock.com to share cars etc.
