Transformation Thurrock Prayer marches on
March's Transformation Thurrock Prayer gathering will take place at Aveley Christian Centre.
The date is Saturday 20 March and the meeting begins at 8.30am. Intercessors and leaders will come together in unity to pray for the borough as well as the western part of Thurrock, some of which - including Aveley - is inside the M25.
We especially invite all churches who are part of the Mardyke Fellowship - the churches working together in the west of the borough in Purfleet, South Ockendon and Aveley - to send representatives. Pastors Alan & Lydia Field will give you a big welcome!
Aveley is famous for being the place where the young John Newton (1725-1807) lived for a few years with his auntie and uncle before he ran off to sea. He became a slave trader, but later came to faith and wrote the famous hymn, Amazing Grace. This was his 'testimony of transformation'. He was to play a big part in the Abolitionist cause alongside William Wilberforce, another believer.
Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound!) That sav'd a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears reliev'd; How precious did that grace appear, The hour I first believ'd!
Thro' many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; 'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promis'd good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures.
Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease; I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.
This earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, who call'd me here below, Will be for ever mine.
Aveley Christian Centre is along Stifford Road, but the entrance and car park are round the back off Aveley Gardens. The post code is RM15 4AB.
