Bar'N'Bus heads for Tilbury

barnbus1Thurrock's Bar'N'Bus project is looking to take a new direction over the coming year by launching a new team in Tilbury - but drawing volunteers from churches right across the borough.

The three existing teams - at Grays Beach, in West Thurrock and Corringham - are all in areas where local churches support the mission through the recruitment of volunteers and financial input.

But Tilbury presents a special challenge as the area needs outreach to the young people on the streets but does not have the Christian presence to support it. And so the Bar'N'Bus Trust are looking at offering the use of the bus in Tilbury one evening a week, but with a team of people with a heart for mission to young people in what is deemed to be a difficult context.

This is not unlike the original Thurrock Bar'N'Bus team which began in early 2006 at Blackshots - volunteers came from across the borough's churches. It ran successfully for almost three years.

If you're interested in getting involved in the new team and stretching your faith, please contact the Thurrock Teams' Coordinator Tim Harrold on tim@transformationthurrock.com.
