Global Day of Prayer National Event this Sunday

2008-gdopWest Ham United's stadium at Upton Park opens its doors this Sunday afternoon to the biggest prayer meeting in the UK's history. Will you and your church be there?

25,000 followers of Jesus are expected to join together in unity to worship, listen to testimonies and pray, interceding on behalf of the nation.

The programme consists of a variety of expressions of our faith which reflect the multicultural make up of the United Kingdom of Great Britain - and the United Kingdom of King Jesus.

Transformation Thurrock is linked into GDOP London because of the M25 Nutcracker initiative and also the activities of the Thames Gateway Prayernet.

GDOP London's convener Dr Jonathan Oloyede has visited Thurrock on a number of occasions, most notably at last October's Thurrock Day of Prayer at Hassenbrook School in Stanford-le-Hope.

gdopThis event was held at West Ham three years ago in 2007. The 2008 event was held at The Den in Millwall. In 2009 there was no central event but smaller ones in every one of London's 33 boroughs.

Folk from Thurrock have attended on each occasion (right).

Next year in 2011 Jonathan is aiming to fill the new Wembley Stadium with 80,000 Christians - a vision he's had since the days before it was decided to pull down the old Wembley.

"All God is saying," Jonathan says, "is prayer and unity". Something Transformation Thurrock thoroughly agrees with and endorses.

Doors for the National Prayer Event at West Ham open at 1pm.

If you book 25 tickets now, you can get a free CD! Go to www.gdoplondon.com to find out more.

Tickets cannot be booked via Transformation Thurrock but only via Global Day of Prayer London.

"The Lord has been speaking to us that we need to galvanize the people of God into deeper and sustained prayer for London and the United Kingdom.  The country is at a crucial juncture and she needs our prayers to make the right turn.  If we do not pray now, we could miss God's first choice for Great Britain." - The Global Day of Prayer
