Transformation Thurrock's metamorphosis: latest

Last week there was a second 'Top Level Executive Meeting' of some of Transformation Thurrock's friends at the offices of Chafford Hundred Community Church.

These were (in alphabetical order):
  • Colin Baker (Grays Baptist Church)
  • David Bareham (Chafford Hundred Community Church)
  • Barbara Brown (Thurrock Healing Rooms)
  • Ayo Gbajabiamila (New Covenant Church, Stanford)
  • Rob Groves (Fresh Hope Community, Stanford)
  • Tim Harrold (Transformation Thurrock)
We made a couple of decisions concerning the running of Transformation Thurrock for the foreseeable future. These decisions were based on a desire to follow Kingdom principles of simplicity and transparency, and not wanting to fall into traps set by any empire spirit that would seek to distract us from the prophetic integrity of Transformation Thurrock, namely that it is an organism (not an organisation) and a conduit primarily for unity in Christ in the spheres of prayer and mission.

We decided that Transformation Thurrock should not become a 'business' at this point. This means:
  • Tim will continue to find income via individuals, churches and other sponsoring bodies using his Stewardship Sovereign Account, working and funded something like a missionary would when called to a location. The advantage of this is that Stewardship passes on to the recipient reclaimed tax where applicable. If necessary, Tim can explore 'tent-making' means of raising income.
  • Transformation Thurrock will have its own Community Account for the simple act of keeping monies from offerings at various events, and monies donated for the setting up of other events. For this, Transformation Thurrock require a Treasurer and a Secretary, and are in the process of approaching friends with appropriate skills and in agreement with the core ethos of Transformation Thurrock.
Rob is currently working for the transformational agency One Community in Tilbury and also pursuing a Bible course at Spurgeon's College in South East London. The arrangements described above allow him the freedom to continue in these things.

logoarticleIt was agreed that Transformation Thurrock can act as an encourager of Social Enterprise and community events - both of which Rob is hugely enthusiastic about - and it's hoped that at some point Transformation Thurrock can act as a conduit of Small Grants for folk working across the churches on such projects.

It was also agreed that this group of Transformation Thurrock's friends would gather again in six month's time to talk together again.

Meanwhile, it was suggested that Transformation Thurrock facilitate and re-establish a trans-borough lunchtime gathering for church leaders and representatives. Rob went off to find a venue, and this will be advertised via the Transformation Thurrock website and e-news emails.

In Jesus the One and Only Transformer of hearts and minds, and lives and communities, of His Body and His Bride.
