Transformation Thurrock: ethos, ways and means
This document is based on one prepared for the meeting of a few of Transformation Thurrock's friends on Monday 19 July 2010 at Chafford Hundred Community Church offices.
ethos
Transformation Thurrock is an organism that exists to facilitate and resource united prayer and united mission across the borough, to the glory of Jesus Christ
ways and means
Transformation Thurrock seeks to
- promote prayer and mission activities that expressly have an ecumenical / cross-denominational / non-denominational / inter-church flavour
- promote redemptive agencies at work in the community, both Christian and non-Christian
Transformation Thurrock is doing this by
- regularly updating the Transformation Thurrock website
- regularly sending out (weekly) Transformation Thurrock e-news emails
- facilitating weekly prayer meetings for church leaders and representatives in the Grays area (Grays Leaders Prayer)
- facilitating monthly cross-denominational prayer gatherings in various church and non-church locations around the borough (Transformation Thurrock Prayer)
- facilitating an annual Thurrock Day of Prayer, open to all believers of all churches, denominations, traditions and cultures
- co-facilitating the annual Thurrock & Havering Schools’ Prayer Day
- co-ordinating an outreach to young people on the streets of the borough (Bar’N’Bus)
- co-facilitating Thames Gateway Prayernet regional cross-denominational activities
- facilitating and developing the GDOP London M25 Nutcracker regional prayer initiative
Transformation Thurrock will do this by
- facilitating and resourcing a cross-denominational borough ‘festival / celebration / outreach’ on Pentecost Sunday / Global Day of Prayer
- facilitating the schools’ outreach programme, GSUS Live, in Autumn 2012, a cross-denominational project
- co-ordinating prophetic prayer walking around the borough
- co-ordinating prayer-on-the-streets, prayer-at-the-fairs, and Psalm Reading / Dream Interpretation etc.
- promoting and co-ordinating Treasure Hunting
- promoting the unity inherent in the Epicentre / Rock the City outreach initiative to Thurrock’s young people
- promoting with greater measure activities connected with the London 2012 Olympic Games
- promoting and serving the Thurrock Faith Forum if appropriate
- being a conduit for small grants from Seedbed Trust for social enterprise, community projects and cross-denominational ministries (to be developed)
- facilitating trans-borough lunches for church leaders
The above also embodies Tim Harrold’s job description, which involves the facilitation of all these things, always working in unity to create unity.
