Bar'N'Bus appears at Grays fun day

PICT1772Thurrock's Bar'N'Bus joined in all the activities at yesterday's (Saturday 21 August) Community Fun Day on Kilvert's Field in Argent Street, Grays.

A number of people from the Grays Riverside team - and a few others - manned the bus over the afternoon, giving away cups of tea, coffee and squash.

The bus's presence seemed to be greatly appreciated and was busy for nearly all of the time it was parked on the corner of the field just across from the flats and not far from the Yacht Club.

Elsewhere on the field were various stalls and attractions, such as a burger stall, a healthy eating stall, and a climbing wall provided by the Scouts. Music was being played over a sound system.

Team leader Gary Jones was pleased with the afternoon. "We've had a constant stream of people on board. This can only be good for the Bar'N'Bus as such events as this gets it recognised by the community as being part of the community."

PICT1775Not that that was the main reason for taking the bus to Kilvert's Field. "It's great to be invited by Monty and the folk at the Seabrooke Rise Community House to be part of the Fun Day and just to come alongside and be part of what they're doing."

Monty is the lady who facilitates many of the events that the Community House put on. The House also acts as a centre of activities for people on the estate, and has become a hub of positive action - a 'change agent' for the area.

Bar'N'Bus parks up at the Grays Beach car park in Thames Road every Tuesday night. It is open from 8 to 10pm for young people mainly of secondary school age. If you attend a church in the Grays Town area and would like more details on how to become a team member, please contact team leader Gary Jones via Transformation Thurrock.
