Thurrock Day of Prayer publicity ready

This year's Thurrock Day of Prayer takes place on Saturday 16 October at Grays United Reformed Church in Bradleigh Avenue.
Posters and flyers are now available and will have been sent out with the weekly Transformation Thurrock E-news email. These are also available form the Transformation Thurrock office upon request. Please email tim@transformationthurrock.com.
The photo used is of the beacon down by the Thames between the Royal Hotel and the Garrison Estate in Purfleet. This was one of the beacons that were put up all around the nation in 1988 as part of the celebrations commemorating the English victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588. (There are other beacons at Coalhouse Fort at East Tilbury and Dry Street in the Laindon Hills.) On the post there is a plaque that has the inscription: FIRE OVER ENGLAND.
This seemed an appropriately prophetic image for TDOP - for the fire of God to touch our borough, and for the borough to be a beacon of the fire of God to the nation.
The fact that the shield bearing the arms of Thurrock is rusting and pock-marked with air pellet holes perhaps says something about the state of our borough... and the need for the church to rise up in greater depths of prayer and mission. That mission is greater than all of us put together - and that's where Jesus comes in!
