Wake Up! National Days of Prayer & Fasting during 2011

a call to prayer from Ian Christensen, Senior Minister New Life Christian Centre International not far from Wembley Stadium

Ian Christensen‘In April 2010 I felt I received a word from the Lord whilst away in prayer to call upon the leaders of denominations, streams and networks to call the whole church in British Isles to days of fasting and prayer for our needy nations. Around 70 leaders gathered in Wembley on 6th December 2010 and were stirred and inspired as we worshiped, prayed and shared together concerning fasting and prayer in 2011.

Keith Powell, an Anglican Minister from Somerset shared a series of visions and dreams concerning God's purposes for our Nation.  He felt impressed, as myself and others had, that 2011 was to be a pivotal year for the future of our nation. Several Ministers, networks and prayer ministries were represented at this gathering which began at 11am and finished after lunch around 2.30pm.

The overall response was very positive and I took the initiative to get the ball rolling suggesting the following dates for co-ordinated, synchronised days for fasting and prayer for the needs of our nation.
  • January 30th 2011
  • April 30th 2011
  • July 30th 2011
  • November 30th 2011
Each of these days would be in a 3 day period E.g. 28th, 29th 30th January. Our request was that within these 3 days the 30th would be the main date but the other 2 days could be used or incorporated if there was a clash of events.

I believe that we will see thousands fasting and praying for our nation in January and I expect, as the Lord inspires and leads us, that as the year progresses it will grow to hundreds of thousands crying out to the Lord for His mercy upon our land.

We will be praying for the following:
  • God's mercy upon our Land.
  • National revival and outpourings of the Holy Spirit
  • The British Isles to return to becoming Christian Nations
  • Let's cry out together to the Lord to visit, influence and bring change to our nations.
These days of fasting are incorporated into the 500 days of prayer initiated by Global Day of Prayer London www.gdoplondon.com.  In addition to all our prayers and all that we are doing individually and corporately let's believe God together, pray together and expect great things from our God'.
