Gideons get going
Following their recent recruitment drive in the Thurrock and Basildon area, the Gideons International have lined up a day of events on Saturday 12 March.
These are:
- Men's Breakfast 8.30am at St Margarets Church, Stanford-le-Hope – Chris Axelby speaking; subject - Know the Scriptures, Know the Power of God *
- Basildon Hospital placement of Gideons' Bibles 10.30am – keep praying for a smooth presentation to all wards
- Celebration Lunch for prospective Gideons and Auxiliaries at Kingswood Baptist Church at 1.00pm – Chris Axelby and Jane Mann speaking **
Transformation Thurrock can exclusively reveal that Gideons have been able to get a new South West Essex Branch off the ground. But if you want to know more, you'll have to go to the Men's Breakfast or attend the Celebration Lunch!
Rodney Eborn, the Gideons International Area Co-ordinator, says:
Gideons are aware that many people in Britain have never seen a Bible and may be uncertain what it is. Sadly, there is currently no branch in the South Essex area. We have some funds available but no members to distribute testaments.
The aim of the Gideons is to give them the opportunity to read it for themselves, perhaps for the first time, and to discover God in a personal way. The Gideons place Bibles or New Testaments in many areas including:
 Hotels
- Hospitals
- Prisons
- Student Accommodation
- Care Homes
- Medical Centres
Additionally, the Gideons make personal presentations of God's Word.
Each year the Gideons present personal copies of the New Testament and Psalms to children in thousands of British secondary schools and to many university and college students. The Gideons make personal presentations to medical personnel and uniformed services - Armed Forces, Police, Ambulance and Fire. Gideons place New Testaments at hospital bedsides.
The Gideons International in the British Isles is part of the world wide Association called The Gideons International. The Gideons International has one simple and clearly defined aim: to win men, women and young people for the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are so many personal testimonies of how a placed or presented Gideon bible with the useful scripture reference helps has helped many from a point of despair and in some cases suicide to a new found hope and life in Jesus Christ.
Gideons International wants you to be a part of this wonderful ministry.
Rodney finishes by saying, "I very much look forward to meeting Christian men and their wives, who would like to hear more about the Gideon ministry at 1pm on 12th March at Kingswood Church".
Chris Axelby, Membership Recruitment Manager for The Gideons International in the British Isles, adds, "I just thank God for everyone who is simply seeking to get the part of God’s work known as Gideons re-started in your area".
