National RE celebration month nears
from Deborah Weston, Associate RE Adviser, SACRE (pictured here on the right with co-presenter Fiona Moss at the recent Labyrinth training at Grays Parish Church)
As you know, March is the National RE celebration month. There are lots of events happening all over the country which you can read about at this link: http://www.celebratingre.org/.
If you are planning anything in your own location, please register it on this site and/or let me know. The specific focus in Thurrock is to encourage schools to visit places of worship. We have offered training on Labyrinths to our local Churches and members of other religious traditions are also willing to accept visitors. We already have some well-established links in the borough.
We have made a start on recording good places for Learning Outside the Classroom in RE here http://www.thurrock.gov.uk/education/sacre/content.php?page=places.
If you know of a venue we could add, please complete the Place of Worship form on this page.
- Schools – if you would like help linking with a local place of worship and cannot find the right contact – please contact me
- Places of Worship – if you would like to invite a school to visit and need help in finding the right contact– please contact me – especially if you are putting on something special during this RE Celebration Month
And Finally: On the 31st March from , we have a special event being hosted by SACRE and the Thurrock Association of Governors. This is a lecture by Dr Joyce Miller entitled, “Where now for community cohesion and RE?”
You are all welcome to attend and please share the invitation around your networks. Please see the flyer below. I hope to see you there. Book via the Culver Centre (details on flyer). With regards Deborah Weston Associate RE Adviser deborah.weston@btinternet.com
