Thames Prayer Trip planned for 7 May
The Thames Gateway Prayernet are organising a second, long awaited for, Thames Prayer Trip to the heart of the nation aboard the Princess Pocahontas.
This follows a previous voyage of intercession which took place in September 2009, also aboard the Pocahontas.
The date of this year's trip is Saturday 7 May and will go from Gravesend Pier to Westminster and back. Unlike the previous time, we will be docking at Westminster and prayer-walking the Parliament and Abbey area.
One aim is to simply take the blessings of the lower reaches of the river to the capital of the UK. Another is to proclaim the Lordship and Kingship of Jesus Christ along these shores and banks.
So, we will be praying for Westminster and the City; for the Monarchy and the Nation; for the Olympics & Paralympics and the protection of London; for the geographic, historical and spiritual landscape of the Thames Gateway Region.
As before, the journey includes worship and seminars in the covered areas of the boat and on the sun deck. More details of special guests will be made available once these are confirmed, but the themes we aim to cover are Parliament; the London 2012 Games; the Monarchy; and Coastlands & Gateways. We are also looking at covering the legacy of the marshlands right along the Thames - the distant history of which is steeped in pagan offerings to river gods and so on.
Coffee and tea will be available - but please bring packed lunches.
Event details Saturday 7 May arrive at West Street Pier, Gravesend DA11 0BS, at 10am - boat leaves at 10.30am Length of trip approx. 6 hours including Prayer Walk at Westminster Cost £15 per person (sorry, no concessions) By booking ONLY in advance To book please contact Ros Pople on 01 634 221 204
