ROCK THE UK EVENTS TO FEATURE WILL GRAHAM, GRANDSON OF BILLY GRAHAM
First Event -- Rock Thurrock -- to Take Place Sept. 24-25, 2011
LONDON, May 25, 2011 -- This September, Will Graham, grandson of Billy Graham and son of Franklin Graham, will speak at the first of several Rock the UK events in the United Kingdom organized specifically for youth.
Graham serves as an associate evangelist with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the organization his grandfather founded more than 60 years ago. Today, the organization is headed by Franklin Graham, who also serves as the president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief organization.
 The first Rock the UK event is called Rock Thurrock and will take place Sept. 24-25, 2011. This will mark the first time Will Graham has visited the UK to preach.
"Young people in this country are searching for meaning," said Simon Barrington, Executive Director of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in the UK. "Now is the time to proclaim the Gospel to them in a way that is meaningful and relevant, to satisfy this hunger."
Additional Rock the UK events are being planned for 2012. Each event will feature high-energy, large-scale music concerts aimed specifically for people under the age of 25, as well as messages from Will Graham.
"We are convinced of the power of God's word to change lives in real, tangible ways," added Barrington. "Not because we have exceptional faith, but because we have the privilege of more than 60 years of well-documented evidence".
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will work closely with local churches to equip and prepare people for each event. The entire programme, for each major town or city, will last approximately six months including before-the-event training and after-the-event counseling.
