East Thurrock United Service and Rock Thurrock join forces this Sunday night
This Sunday evening, 17 July, the Rock Thurrock team will be leading the monthly cross-denominational gathering in a time of prayer for the project, for the mobilisation of the church, and for young people across the borough.
For a few years now, Transformation Thurrock has been asked to lead prayer at the monthly East Thurrock United Service.
These services have been going on for a number of years now, and many folk from the fellowships of Fobbing, Corringham and Stanford-le-Hope attend, each hosting the service in turn.
This month's United Service is taking place in St Margaret's, the parish church of the community of Stanford-le-Hope (above). Aspects of the Rock Thurrock project which will be covered will be broadly in line with the Rock Prayer Guides which have recently appeared on the Transformation Thurrock website. The event begins at 6.30pm.
One of the major potential stumbling blocks at this time is apathy. The first wave of training with the Christian Life & Witness Courses has come and gone, and although Rock Thurrock is currently in the middle of its month of Community Action Projects, it is quite easy for folk to switch off and look ahead to their summer holidays. But behind the scenes, people are beavering away with various tasks, and as soon as September arrives, Rock Thurrock will be off the starting blocks with the FM417 training weekend for young people and then the main events with Will Graham at Thurrock Civic Hall, followed by seven weeks of Velocity discipleship training for new converts. So stay awake and remain involved!
