Why you should come to the MTG presentations - the Olympic Torch is coming to Thurrock!

Today (Monday 7 November), the route the Olympic Torch will take around the UK was revealed.

The whole route from Lands End to the Olympic Stadium via just about everywhere in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, not to mention many of the outlying islands - is over 70 days, and will require 8000 torchbearers.

Although not in street-by-street detail, the London 2012 website does show all the major stopping points - and that includes GRAYS!

Torch Grays 1

The torch will reach Grays on Day 49 of the marathon route - Friday 6 July. According to the website, there will be an evening event. The route suggests the torch will be coming through Thurrock from the east, before heading northwards to the Brentwood area.

The church of Thurrock has a great opportunity to mobilise and serve the wider community because of the torch coming to the borough. That's why it's important for as many ministers and those in church leadership to get along to either of the two More Than Gold presentations on Thursday of this week (10 November).
