Rock Thurrock celebrates with curry and song
The final fundraising event for Rock Thurrock took place on Monday night (24 November) at the Shampaan Balti House on London Road West Thurrock.
Once again, proprietor Mr Hellal Ali and his excellent staff gave all who attended a splendid evening, making us welcome and at ease and providing us with an array of exemplary food.
And £245 was raised for the Rock Thurrock project! After Gift Aid, this should come to nearly £300. We even had a very kind couple - who just happened to be eating in the restaurant - make a donation of £10 to the cause! Many thanks.
This time instead of a set menu, after starters, Mr Ali allowed everyone the opportunity to choose a main course from the menu, plus a side dish each, and either a rice or bread. Needless to say, tables worked it our between them what to get and then all shared.
To close the evening, we were treated to three soulful songs from Leon Grant. Leon is married to Kat Grant, who runs the Streetlife Urban Youth Dance project. Leon's debut album, Shine On Me, is available from http://www.leongrantofficial.co.uk/.
