‘Fair Trade Town’ status for Corringham & Stanford?

Dear all,

We have arranged for Jocelyn Audsley from Thurrock Council to come and talk to us on Thursday 19 January about the possibility of seeking ‘fair trade town’ status for Corringham and Stanford.

This would involve reaching a number of milestones including support from retailers, cafes, schools, community groups, and the council. There has been steady progress over the last few years (does anyone remember campaigning to try and get a single product, fair trade bananas, on the shelves in Stanford a few years ago?)  We think we are pretty close in most of the areas and it would be great to be able to go for this as a target for fair trade fortnight at the beginning of March this year.

The meeting will be hosted at the 24-7 Prayer House (Boiler Room Community), 217 Southend Road, Stanford-le-Hope, starting at 8pm. Please let me know if you or your representative would like to come along.philnumber11
