Thurrock's John Newton exhibition opens in London

Famous for converting from slave trader to champion of the Abolition movement and friend of William Wilberforce, the life of the writer of the most famous hymn of them all, Amazing Grace, is celebrated in a new exhibition.

And it's a little known fact that John Newton spent some of his formative years living in Thurrock - on the marshes at Aveley, to be precise.

All the details can be found on the flyer below.

It is hoped that this exhibition will come to the Thameside Theatre in Grays in the near future.
