Seven Mountains Prayer for Thurrock scales first peak

7 Mountains basicThe first of the seven monthly meetings praying into the seven 'mountains' (or 'spheres') of local society took place last Sunday 24 January 2016 at Grays Baptist Church.

The theme of the first mountain was Belief. This was stripped down into six areas:
  • Religion
    • It is for freedom that Christ has set us free - Galatians 5:1
    • Breaking religious strongholds of all kinds, including those in the church
    • Freeing from cultish and controlling behaviours
  • Religions
    • Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Moslems, Sikhs etc.
    • Bless your ‘enemies’ and love your neighbour as yourself - Jesus
    • Come in the opposite spirit
  • Spirituality
    • God is already speaking to people 'out there'
    • The speakers of truth must seek out the seekers of truth
    • Finding the persons of peace (community influencers) - Matthew 10 / Luke 10
  • Atheism
    • The secular humanist agenda that dominates the media and political, scientific and creative thinking
    • Powers and principalities i.e., cultural mindsets, entrenched ideologies and retrograde paradigms - Ephesians 6
    • Shifting the atmosphere (this goes beyond atheism)
  • Churches
    • Serving the towns and villages of the Borough
    • “You are a city on a hill... and it gives light...” - Jesus
    • Being more effective in prayer and mission, unity being key
  • The Church
    • Unity in the Body of Christ because of unity in God - John 17:20
    • Fulfilling the Great Commission - Matthew 29:19-20
    • Dicsiples who love each other so the world will see and become disciples - John 13:24
There was some discussion among those who gathered about the phrase 'prophetic intercessors' on the publicity and what this actually means to our congregations, in our services, and across the body of Christ. What do you think?

The idea was raised to produce a prayer guide to go with this series of meetings. Please use the Belief prayer guide download PDF to the left of this article. It has more on it than this article.

The second mountain is Business in Thurrock. This takes place at 6.30pm on 21 February 2016 at Grays Baptist Church. Poster to follow.
