Praying for the Creative Mountain of Thurrock

Tim Harrold

Our Creator loves it when we create - it's what we're created to do!

The first person to be anointed by the Holy Spirit in the Bible was an artisan - Bezalel. See Exodus 31:1-11 below.

Craftsmen are incredibly powerful figures in scripture, striking terror into the enemice of God. See Zechariah 1:18-21 below.

Here are the themes that were prayed into at the 4th of the Mountains of Thurrock prayer series, held on Sunday 24 April at Grays Baptist Church. The following is just a guide and does not cover every aspect of the subject. Please use this as a prayer guide.

Exodus 31:1-11

Then the Lord said to Moses,
‘See I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom,
with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills –
to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.
Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him.
Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:
the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law with the atonement cover on it, and all the other furnishings of the tent – the table and its articles, the pure gold lampstand and all its accessories, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, the basin with its stand – and also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests, and the anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place.
They are to make them just as I commanded you.’

Zechariah 1:18-21

Then I looked up—and there before me were four horns!
I asked the angel who was speaking to me, "What are these?"
He answered me, "These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem."
Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen.
I asked, "What are these coming to do?"
He answered, "These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head, but the craftsmen have come to terrify them and throw down these horns of the nations who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter its people."
