Give generosity to those who seek to form opinion
and discernment to those who vote,
that our nation may prosper

we may work for peace and the common good;
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Leader    Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name
ALL         We lift the name of Jesus high over all these negotiations and worship Him as Lord of every nation in our continent.
Leader    We pray for your kingdom to come
ALL         Grant that through all the negotiations still to take place and in all areas of unease and conflict between our people, that your presence surround us. Help us to fulfil our role of stewardship in this world you have entrusted to our care.
Leader    Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
ALL        Give wisdom and discernment to all leaders and their teams of advisors; to all seeking to guide others in understanding and decision-making, so that all people may make an informed decision on polling day.
Leader    Give us today our daily bread
ALL         We ask for clear and balanced reporting by the media, free from slander, lies, distorted truths and hypocrisy.

ALL         Lord, have mercy on us as a nation, Lord, have mercy on us as your church, Lord, have mercy on Europe.
Leader    Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
ALL         Help us as a nation to show compassion and uphold your justice. Help us as your church to share your love and talk about Jesus. Where there is division, tension, deception let us bring your peace and integrity.
Leader    For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever
ALL        We pray that your name will be glorified across our continent, and that every nation may receive the blessing of your shalom peace. Amen.

Closing Responses

based on Revelation 21 & 22

Leader    Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth – and I heard a voice from the throne saying:
ALL         See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be His peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more.
Leader    And the one who was seated on the throne said:
ALL         See, I am making all things new.
Leader    And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine in it for the glory of God is its light and its lamp is the Lamb.
ALL        The nations will walk by its light; People will bring into it the glory and the honour of the nations.
Leader    And at its heart. planted by the river that runs through paradise is the tree of life:
ALL        And the tree shall bear its fruit each month and the leaves of that tree will be for the healing of the nations.
Leader   And may God bless us
ALL        The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Leader    And until we meet again
ALL         May God hold us in the palm of his hand. Amen.
