from John Dell of TCF, volunteer for Samaritans Purseimages

Samaritans Purse yearly shoe box appeal is nearly upon us, and in the past Thurrock churches have supported this in various forms, Grays Baptist Church being our main drop off point.

John Dell from Thurrock Christian Fellowship has been involved for the last 2 years as a volunteer for Samaritans Purse and has been coordinating Thurrock churches, schools, companies and youth groups, and has seen the area grow in shoeboxes which has in turn led to more children around the world hearing about Jesus.

This year John & Samaritans Purse are holding a launch event to be held on Sunday 8 September at 2pm at TCF, All Saints Centre, John Street, Grays. The event is open to all churches around Thurrock to find out about the appeal and how Thurrock are going to be opening a processing Centre for the first time.

The meeting will last no longer than an hour and will be followed by some light refreshments, when John and the small team of volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions.

With the opening of the processing centre John is looking for more volunteers to get involved and help out. There a various roles available on the logistics team –

  • drivers
  • shoebox checkers
  • treasurer
  • warehouse duty manager
  • prayer coordinator to lead a team of pray warriors
