from Revd Christine Williams, Team Vicar, St Mary’s Little Thurrock
Transformation Thurrock may be interested in changes that are going to be taking place at St Mary’s Dock Road, Little Thurrock. We are improving our lovely old Grade 2* Listed building so that it is suitable for 21st century. (installing a loo, improving the heating and lighting etc). We are holding a special Strawberry Tea and Gift Day to launch our appeal for the remaining funds. We are already quite a long way there. Many of your readers will have happy memories of events held at the church and they may wish to see the plans. These will be on display at the Strawberry Tea which is on Saturday 30th June 2-4pm. Please deatils below. Thank you Revd Christine Williams Strawberry Tea and Gift Day
Saturday 30th June in St Mary’s Hall. 2.00-4.00pm St Mary’s Church is a lovely old Grade 2* Listed building which dates from 1170 standing in Dock Road Little Thurrock. Throughout its life it has been altered to meet the needs of the time. In the 14th century it was enlarged eastwards by the addition of a large chancel. The Victorians enlarged the nave at the other end. In our time we need to also make some alterations. Come and see a display of what we want to do at St Mary’s. We are seeking to raise the remainder of the cost through grants and through personal gifts. Come and enjoy the strawberries and cakes, or buy books, plants or other stalls to support St Mary’s. |
