Steve Morley’s Annual Report Meeting is this coming Saturday, 23 January.
Steve’s been taking the message of Jesus into Thurrock’s schools for almost 20 years. He came to faith in 1987 while working at Thames Board Mills and soon felt the call to become a Counties’ Evangelist, and started training to do schools’ work in 1990.
Steve has a rich and varied CV.
He is truly gifted in the area of communicating the gospel to mainly primary school children. He must have done hundreds of assemblies and addressed thousands of children. Over the years he’s also done a significant amount of holiday clubs and summer camps. Steve is also an able Bible teacher and had preached many times in many places.
From 1996 to 2000, he was an active member of the Thurrock Schools’ Chritsian Worker Group, which raised awareness through cross-denominational prayer events the need for schools work in the borough.
In 2002, 2005 and 2008 he was part of the core facilitation team for GSUS Live, the mobile classroom that takes a computerised multimedia RE presentation to secondary schools. Everywhere GSUS Live went, teenagers would remember Steve from his primary schools’ work, and enthusiastically greet him with “Mr Morley!, Mr Morley!”.
Steve has also been on two mission trips to India in recent years.
For the past two years, he has been deputy leader of the West Thurrock Bar’N’Bus team, which hadn’t missed a single week until the recent snow. This goes out on Wednesday nights and is a joint venture with St Clement’s Parish Church, with who the Chapel do much together in the locality.
Steve is married to Dawn and they have four grown up children. They live in West Thurrock. He is now winding down his schools’ work, sensing it is God’s timing for him to embark on new ventures late in the year.
The annual report evening is being held at West Thurrock Chapel, where Steve is an elder. The event begins at 7.30pm, but if you arrive a little earlier refreshments will be served from 7.15pm. If the car park is full, overflow is available just up the road at Cowdray Hall.
