from Andy Blakey and Tim Harrold

Earlier in 2015, Transformation Thurrock and Thurrock Faith Matters (the local interfaith forum) partnered with the Cinnamon Network to facilitate a Faith Action Audit across the various faiths represented in the borough.

This was implemented by Andy Blakey and completed in the late spring, with a delegation from Thurrock attending the national launch in London in May.

“Thurrock Faith In Action”, on Thursday 19 November at the Gateway Peoples Centre in Stanford-le-Hope, is an event being held to celebrate the value that Thurrock’s faith groups bring to the borough every year – worth a cool £1.5m. Much of this is voluntary work.

This date has been intentionally chosen as it falls in the national Interfaith Week.

The event is split into two halves.

From 4pm onwards, local faith-based change agencies will be showing their work in a ‘marketplace’ atmosphere. This will be informal and unstructured, and towards the end there will be some refreshments.

Then at 7pm there will be a presentation featuring Andy Blakey; a representative from the Cinnamon Network; and the Bishop of Bradwell, Rev. John Wraw. There will also be three presentations by local agencies, and a forum reflecting the diversity of faith in the borough. More information on the specifics will follow.

Please see the poster below, which can also be downloaded for your church building using the link to the left.

Local MPs, councillors and change agency facilitators are being invited.

You are invited too.
