NewsDear Thurrock foodbank supporter, It was good to meet so many of you during our first foodbank week recently – thank you very much for your involvement and support. Please find attached our April newsletter. You will see that one of our most critical needs at the moment is for continued food donations. If you would like to have a Thurrock foodbank collection point at your business, school, church, etc. please let us know! We are also looking for volunteers to support at our next two supermarket collections, which are both at the Tesco Extra store in the Lakeside Retail Park: on Saturday 18th May and both Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July (which is part of a national foodbank collection at Tesco stores across the country). These collections will be especially beneficial for us as Tesco provides a ‘top up’ of 30% of the value of what we collect on a store gift card, which will be incredibly helpful for us to buy items when we run short and/or treats and extras for our clients. It is a real challenge for us to keep our food supplies at the right level for the increasing demand we are seeing, so any help you or your contacts can give at either of these collections would be very much appreciated. In particular, we need strong men who can help with transporting the boxes from the store to the hall where the food is sorted to our storage warehouse during the day! We usually ask volunteers to sign up for either 8-10am, 10-12noon, 12-2pm or 2-4pm, so please email us to let us know your preferred date and time. If for any reason you would like to be removed from this distribution list, please let us know and we will make sure it is done. Alternatively, if there is anyone else who would like to receive regular updates from Thurrock foodbank, please encourage them to get in touch with us. Thank you again for your ongoing support. Prayer Dear Thurrock foodbank supporter, It was good to meet so many of you during our first foodbank week recently – thank you very much for your involvement and support. Please find attached our April prayer points. There is as always much to give thanks for and much to continue to pray for! You will have seen from our newsletter email that one of our most critical needs at the moment is for continued food donations. If your church doesn’t already collect for the foodbank, please consider if you could do so and we will help to set that up for you. We would also really value your support with our next supermarket collections on 18th May and 6th-7th July, so if your church could ‘sponsor’ a shift on one of these days then please do get in touch with us as soon as possible. If for any reason you would like to be removed from this distribution list, please let us know and we will make sure it is done. Alternatively, if there is anyone else who would like to receive regular updates from Thurrock foodbank, please encourage them to get in touch with us. Thank you again for your ongoing support. |
