Four folk from the church of Thurrock attended a prayer breakfast held at the Salvation Army Centre at Hadleigh Farm on Saturday 21st September 2013. These were: Andy & Jan Blakey of TCF Grays and Thurrock Celebrates; Rob Groves, Community Evangelist for Stanford le Hope; and Tim Harrold of Transformation Thurrock.
This was the first of a number of activities put on by Avril Betts-Brown, local intercessor from the Light House Prayer Group for the borough of Castle Point. Avril and her husband Andrew held the prayer-fort overnight in Canvey Island Methodist Church during The Turn Of The Tide “24-28” of October 2005.
Good friend of Thurrock, Dr Jonathan Oloyede, of Global Day of Prayer London and the National Day of Prayer & Worship, had broken off his Join The Dots Tour – connecting the various hubs of intercession around the nation – to speak to the 50 or so who had gathered.
This is the gist of what he said:
- God is wanting to redeem the historic destiny over the U.K. – four nations in one
- We are now a global village so we all know whats going on everywhere all the time
- Seed was sown by British missionaries in the days of empire and now there is fruit of that seed – and the fruit of the seed has come to Britain to redeem it the ‘mother’ nation
- It’s like iron striking back
- Isaiah 60 is a prophesy over the U.K. (see below)
- In 1852, a British woman called Mary Slessor evangelised Nigeria (see http://www.wholesomewords.org/missions/bioslessor2.html)
-
The Church is to be united
- Jonathan “met the Lord before he met His wife” – meaning he came to faith before he joined the church. The problem with the church is that so many meet the wife before they meet the Lord and so have been influenced by her and her unfaithfulness rather than by the Him and His faithfulness
-
Jesus is coming!
- But before He returns, something is going to happen in the British Isles
- Speak well of each other
- Everyone has a place in the wall
- What kills us is our cynicism
- Repent of differences, hurts, unresolved things
- Major on the majors
- We are on the right road
Isaiah 60:1-3
New International Version
The glory of Zion
‘Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
The Message
People Returning for the Reunion
“Get out of bed, Jerusalem!
Wake up. Put your face in the sunlight.
God’s bright glory has risen for you.
The whole earth is wrapped in darkness,
all people sunk in deep darkness,
But God rises on you,
his sunrise glory breaks over you.
Nations will come to your light,
kings to your sunburst brightness.
