Brief glimpses of what else happened at the meeting held on Friday 10 November 2017
Worship was led by Neil & Laura Frost.
See the links to the left for a short teaching by Richard Earll, and visions form Roy Edwothy and John Espin.
Scriptures brought by Anne Walker of People’s Gateway Centre
Before Anne brought the verses below, and before angels were mentioned, she was getting from the Lord that we are to be reminded that we are not on our own but have angels in our midst.
Isaiah 51:9
Awake, awake, arm of the Lord,
clothe yourself with strength!
Awake, as in days gone by,
as in generations of old.
Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces,
who pierced that monster through?
Isaiah 52:1-12
Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength!
Put on your garments of splendour,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again.
Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.3 For this is what the Lord says:
‘You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.’
For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
‘At first my people went down to Egypt to live;
lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
‘And now what do I have here?’ declares the Lord.
‘For my people have been taken away for nothing,
and those who rule them mock,’ declares the Lord.
‘And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed.
Therefore my people will know my name;
therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.’
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
Depart, depart, go out from there!
Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure,
you who carry the articles of the Lord’s house.
But you will not leave in haste or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
Young People
Tim Harrold read out an email he had received from Debbie Spicer (FHC) two days before the meeting:
I had a training session the other day at work about gangs in Thurrock that was a bit of an eye opener; apparently there are many serious gangs in Chafford Hundred, Ockendon, Tilbury and Basildon to name but a few – they organise drugs, gang rapes, knifing initiations and acid attacks regularly.
Many London gangsters are also being re-located to Essex over the next year.
I just thought it was important to let the Watchmen know as it will greatly affect this area and we need to be actively praying about this and the effects it can have (and is having) on our young people in Thurrock.
Claire Ruff, who had been at the same training, was at the Watchmen meeting and was able to elaborate on this. It was decided that a whole evening should be dedicated to praying about this situation, as well as alerting the Watchmen network about it for ongoing prayer.
Our immediate thoughts were to pray:
- how can we come in the ‘opposite spirit’
- for the raising up and releasing of already believing kids in this generation
- for actual incident prevention, perhaps calling for angelic intervention
With thanks to Alan Field and Aveley Christian Centre for hosting.
The next Thurrock Watchmen is on Friday 5 January at a venue yet to be confirmed. Worship will be led by Granville Harris of Community Church.
