from Kat Grant at StreetLife, Thurrock’s youth urban dance scheme
On 25 September 2012, Kat sent Transformation Thurrock this message:
Dear all,
I am writing to let you know that as of November 2012, StreetLife will be closing. We started in 2005 and have had 7 years of successful work with young people in Thurrock. It has been an amazing time for myself and I have loved working with the various staff that have worked with StreetLife, the organisations that have supported us and especially the young people that have attended the classes.
I want to thank you all for your support during the time StreetLife has been running.
StreetLife is not currently running any classes but we will be running one last workshop at the Meet the People Event that the council are running in Tilbury on Monday 29th October. Please come along if you can and let any young people that you work with know. There will be lots of free t-shirts given out!!!
Thanks, Kat
I’m sure readers would wish to thank Kat and the StreetLife team of volunteers for all she have done across our community over these past few years.
Many will recall with joy StreetLife’s appearance at the Thurrock Day of Prayer in 2009 – when they received a standing ovation – and 2010. The pictures here show part of that perfomance which so affected all who witnessed it.
StreetLife also appeared at the Thurrock & Havering Schools Prayer Day and were involved in outdoor outreach events organised by Destiny Chapel in South Ockendon, and many other events around the borough.
Many young people have been touched by Kat’s ministry to envision and empower young people, raising their confidence, self-esteem and sense of self-worth. Many imperishable seeds have been sown through StreetLife – in time they’ll germinate, watered by The Gardener. Ed
