The grant that Transformation Thurrock received from The Department For Digital, Culture, Media and Sport via The Local Connections fund has helped a number of people and groups in Thurrock

Peter Newell of Thurrock Foodbank explains how Digital tablets are helping them in their work.

This donation will go towards the future development of Thurrock Foodbank and our project to provide a legacy, that will continue to support the communities of Thurrock. The gift of these tablets will enable our distribution centres to log the details of the voucher users. This data is used to make representation to the governmental agencies to support our work in the eradication of food poverty and the hope of a Huger Free Future
As you can imagine during unprecedented times, demands for our services have dramatically increased by 25% compared to the same period last year. Unfortunately this increased demand has seen us needing to feed 8,410 people, across Thurrock, 3,768 of which have been children, since 1st April 2020. Sadly there is still a need for this type of service in these modern times.
Your kind donation will go to help us provide necessary support to those in need living across Thurrock. All contributions also help us in our strategic planning for the future, to ensure we provide the required services and find the best way to continue to support the communities of Thurrock.
Whilst at this time it is difficult to get alongside people, the way we would like, we are still however able to offer various levels of support and signposting to also get people the specific help that they need.
During this difficult time we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals, businesses and organisations like yours towards our work, and we do really appreciate your support, as we continue to seek how to bless those we serve in the future.
