from Andrea Peters (Besom) and Edwin Hughes (Rock Thurrock)
Last Saturday (9 July) saw the first of the Rock Thurrock Community Action Projects with Besom completed successfully.
A group of young people cleared someone’s garden and their work was greatly appreciated,
not just by the Besom staff, but more importantly by the person whose garden they were clearing.
Jesus would have been well pleased!
When Andrea spoke to the family they told her they were so thrilled with what’s been done and they were especially impressed with the group of young people from Open Door Christian Centre. They said they worked really hard, were so polite, and happy to be in their garden.
As you can see from the photos, this is an ongoing project, so any group wanting to bless this family some more are very welcome.
The family consist of Dad whose had a slight heart problem, Mum who’s disabled, and a daughter who also suffers with her health. Dad has tried to sort out the garden but in the end it all became too overwhelming while looking after his wife and daughter.
As well as this group volunteering to do another project, two other groups of young people
have already volunteered for projects with Besom this month.
So if you have a group of about five young people aged 14 -18+ in your church and an adult leader available to supervise on the day, don’t hang around – get stuck in!
Slots are still left for Friday 22 and Friday 29 July.
Please get the adult supervisor to email CAPs coordinator Edwin Hughes urgently at deaconblue@talktalk.net if you have a group that would like to volunteer for either of these dates.
Alternatively if you make those dates or can’t wait that long, why not get involved in this Saturday’s litter pick in Purfleet. Grab some mates and adult supervisor and make you way to:
St Stephen’s Church car park,
London Road,
Purfleet RM19 1QD
(Opposite the Royal Hotel)
10am start – 2pm finish.
Come and join us to be the hands and feet of Jesus for the day.
Help us to clean up and show that we care for this part of our community.
Preferably the adult supervisor should email Edwin on deaconblue@talktalk.net to let him know you are coming, but as long as there is an adult supervisor groups can just turn up on the day if they want to.
