From Danny Sedano of the Grays Team Ministry and member of the Unite 30/31 team

UNITE1The latest Unite 30/31 youth service took place last Sunday night (8 May) at the Gateway People’s Centre in Stanford-Le-Hope.

The event was attended by 90 young people and about 30 youth leaders, pastors and helpers – so a good total of 120 people were present.

At the service we where given a quick preview of one of the bands that will be coming to Thurrock again later on in the year for the Rock Thurrock event. Beautiful Remnant performed one of their songs and I recommend going to check them out at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beautiful-Remnant-Group/113707338691188.

Steve Blakey and Elle Rew did a talk about the Rock Thurrock FM419 training and Thurrock Civic Hall events in September, and the ongoing Bring A Friend iniative.

The theme of the evening was ‘Unstoppable Grace’ and the talk was given by Steve Morris (Youth Worker at Chafford Hundred Community Church).

UNITE2At the end of the talk, Steve asked for a response from the young people to recommit their lives to God or to commit them for the first time. Lots of them came forward and wrote their names on a big cross at the front – which had the words “I WILL FOLLOW” written on it – to show that they were serious about their commitments.

It was a great night and another Unite 30/31 service is being planned for July – more information to come.
